John Bowden sends along another reminder that the theme for this year’s church retreat is “Growing in God’s Love.” With this theme in mind, two of the fun activities planned for the retreat are:
1) A contest where you match up a picture of a church member when she or he was very young with one of their more recent pictures to see how some of us have “grown in God’s love” over the years. A few people have already sent in their pictures, but to play the game we need a few more. You can help make the game possible and more fun if you are willing to share a picture of yourself as a baby or young child, and a relatively current picture showing how you “grew in God’s love.” Digital pictures will work the best. If you have them, you can send them to John at jbow57@yahoo.com. If you have pictures, but they are not digital, you can bring them to church this Sunday (Aug. 21) and give them to John. All pictures will be returned.
2) Also, we would like to have an exchange of the bounty that has “grown in God’s love” in our gardens and flower beds. If you have seeds, bulbs, plant starts, flowers, herbs, fruits, or vegetables that you would like to bring to the retreat and share with others, we welcome you to do so. Think of it as a mini farmers’ market at Pilgrim Firs. Please keep in mind that we will not have refrigeration available, so whatever you bring will need to survive for several days on its own. If you have any questions, please send John an email or call 956-9888
