Learning a little bit about ourselves.

If you go into the Fireside Room at church you will see seven charts on the wall. Here is a little explanation and a request. At the pie auction this past Saturday we began to gather basic "getting to know you" information about each other, using seven simple questions. These seven questions are not rocket science or surgically probative, but they are real questions about real people. And, they tell a story about our humanness, about who we are.

Please venture into the Fireside Room, and grab a marker, pencil, or pen and put down your answers to the following:

Three words that describe you; the person you most admire in the world (living or dead); where were you born; any volunteer work you do; volunteer work you would like to do if you had more time; your favorite place for vacations; and an event that changed your life. Let's start a conversation.

Fifth Thursday Potluck on September 29 !!!

We’ve scheduled a UCC congregation potluck on Thursday, September 29th from 6 to 8 pm in the Fireside Room. The Presbyterians will join us for the potluck, and then meet separately. So bring a dish of your choice to share and your own plate and utensils. Beverages will be provided.

We plan to get some feedback from those who attended the UCC Annual Meeting. We also plan to talk some about how we could allocate funds from the remainder of the bequest to the UCC congregation from Mary Jane Christensen. After paying expenses for those attending the UCC Annual Meeting there is still $2,438 left in the bequest.

Some folks have proposed that we use the funds to partially finance a redesign of the United Churches website. They told us there is some urgency in doing this so that we have an updated Website as we continue the Pastor Seeking process. Council supports this redesign proposal, but there is no money in the 2011 budget for this task. It’s been proposed that we allocate $2,000 from the bequest as either a grant or a loan to be repaid from the 2012 budget. More details about the website redesign will be available at the potluck.

But helping finance the website is just one idea. So come to the 5th Thursday potluck to hear more about this proposal and to present any others you may have. Hope you can attend! Contact Pat Dickason p.dickason@comcast.net if you have questions.
